Malaysian stretch film major makes it Black Clawson again

3 September 2004

Scientex Packaging Films, in Malaysia, has purchased a three metre wide cast stretch film line from Black Clawson Converting Machinery. It is the sixth Black Clawson cast film line for the company and will increase its total annual stretch film production capacity to approximately 60,000t. The equipment will be installed at Scientex's latest facility, which is located in Port Klang, near Kuala Lumpur.

The three metre net width cast film line will produce five-layer differential cling, high grade stretch films ranging from 12-18 micron. It includes a Cloeren EPOCH die, Eurotherm drives, EGS gauging, Allen Bradley PLC, PAC trim and refeed, and Conair resin delivery and blending systems.

All components will be controlled by Black Clawson's Integrator II supervisory process control system. This allows operation and supervision of the entire line from one operator position and provides management information both on site and remotely.

"The new cast film line is designed to meet Scientex's product and production requirements and will be delivered in less time and at a lower cost than previously possible, due to Black Clawson's lean manufacturing initiatives," boasts Bob Moeller, the US company's extrusion products manager. "Black Clawson is pleased to be working with Scientex Packaging Films again."
