FLEXO INSIGHT: Help with print reproduction issues

16 November 2010

by Debbie Waldron-Hoines, Executive Director, EFIA

EFIA established its Technical Helpline in 2007 to support its printer members on a 24-hour basis, with everything from maintenance questions to productivity concerns.

We have taken all sorts of calls in recent months, from simple print faults that could be resolved quickly, to in-depth productivity studies, which required more expert help and a project team to be formed. You never know what the question is going to be, but on many occasions the solutions are not easily determined. That’s why having the backup support of the University of Swansea to conduct scientific research or apply print theory to the reality of a press room situation, if required, can make all the difference to our members.

Professor Tim Claypole MBE, of the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coatings, sits on the EFIA board and provides the ideal backdrop of scientific theory and practical print experience to support association members in their quest to resolve print production issues.

Dr Claypole comments: “The Technical Helpline has seen a revolution in the way EFIA can support its members. The flexo industry begins to work as a true network of technical advisors and print experts, working together for the good of the industry, and we are proud to be supporting that initiative and EFIA with our research work.”

Promoting innovation, productivity and environmental awareness in flexo, the Technical Helpline is just one of the new service offerings from EFIA which will be communicated in the coming months. Remember, EFIA is only a click or a call away on +44 (0)1792 606768, and we would welcome any questions or comments.
